MCS had a great week celebrating our school counselors. We love to celebrate our team of counselors who go above and beyond for our schools, students, staff, and families every day. We LOVE our school counselors and APPRECIATE everything you do! Shout out to Ms. Lori Hutchinson for being a wonderful supervisor to such a dedicated team.
The McMinn County Transportation Department would like to Recognize and Thank, Kathy Sulzer and Louise Liner. Both of these wonderful Bus Drivers currently drive Special Needs buses for McMinn County Schools. Louise Liner has 27 yrs of service and Kathy Sulzer returned to us in 2022 as a full-time Special Needs Driver. Kathy can also be seen driving for Englewood’s after school tutoring program. Thank you both for all the support and love you give to McMinn County Students!

McMinn County Schools will be open on regular schedule on Friday, January 26.
After evaluating road conditions this morning, we have determined that it will be safe to proceed with the Elementary School Basketball Tournament at Central High School this evening. Please visit https://bit.ly/48wg4Rb for tournament information. As of right now, the plan is for all McMinn County Schools to be in regular session on Friday, January 26 as well. We are monitoring the current weather conditions and will make an official announcement later this afternoon.
Apologies for the delayed notification. Our crews have been closely evaluating road conditions. McMinn County Schools will remain closed on Thursday, January 25. While conditions have improved, numerous roads are still covered in thick ice, making travel, particularly by bus, too dangerous to risk. A decision regarding the elementary basketball tournament will be made by noon tomorrow, allowing overnight weather to continue improving road conditions.
Due to ongoing icy and hazardous road conditions in many of our western communities, McMinn County Schools will remain closed on Wednesday, January 24. 11- and 12-month employees should report on a regular schedule if it is safe to do so.

McMinn County District-Wide Spelling Bee is rescheduled to Monday, January 29th, at 6:00pm. Doors open at 5:30pm.

The Elementary School Basketball Tournament scheduled for Thursday has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 20, weather permitting. Should this change a message will be sent on Friday afternoon.

The Elementary Basketball Tournament scheduled for Tuesday evening has been postponed to Thursday evening, weather permitting. The McMinn County Transportation Department would like to Recoginze and Thank Kathy Cobble. Kathy has been a Special Needs Driver for the past 8 yrs and before that was a substitute driver for the Transportation Department. Kathy always has a smile for her students and most likely a blanket to keep them comfortable. Kathy is a blessing to our Transportation Department, the community and the students in McMinn County Schools!
The McMinn County Transportation Department would like to Recognize and Thank Rodney Jaynes. Rodney is a Teacher at McMinn High and also a School Bus Driver with our Transportation Department for the past 6 yrs. Rodney can also be seen driving students from Rogers Creek Elementary during After School Tutoring. Thank you, Rodney, for all the time and dedication you give the students at McMinn County Schools.
