Calhoun School is teaming up with RiverTown 2023 for a 1K/5K benefitting the school’s 2023 Washington DC trip. This year’s trip to our country’s capital is the first for Calhoun School in almost 20 years. Proceeds from the run will go toward necessities and expenses for the trip attendees. This year’s RiverTown Run to the River will take place on Saturday, April 15th beginning at 8 am. The run and walk will both begin at Calhoun School. Participants will travel along Sherwood Avenue and turn left on historical Main Street which is a portion of the Trail of Tears. Everyone will veer left onto Cherokee Crossing where the Hiwassee River will come in view. The 1K will end at Hiwassee Blueway (Calhoun Boat Dock), and the 5K will continue along the scenic Hiwassee River and end at Hiwassee Baptist Church. Transportation will be provided from both end points back to Calhoun School. Awards will be presented for 3 age divisions and provides additional chances to win the RiverTown 2023 grand prize featuring a 2-night stay at Hiwassee Acres. Registration is $25, and participants who register before April 11th will receive a t-shirt. Registration will also be accepted at the event. The form can be found here:
